Artist Profile
David Kidd
My paintings are process driven. The physical act of painting has a
strong influence on the direction that the painting will ultimately take
.While I may have a general concept of what I want to convey, my desire
is not to let that preconceived idea limit or constrain me. The
repetitive and random application and removal of paint creates element s
and patterns that serve as a visual roadmap. From my perspective, I
want the act of painting to be a process of discovery. A balance between
the urge to control the surface of the painting and the desire to allow
mystery and unpredictability to enter into the process. The play of
positive of positive and negative spatial relationships also influences
my work, as well as visual imagery. Currently my paintings incorporate
more visual references. The context of these images infers a correlation
or relevancy meaning based upon their own personal experiences.
