Statement
2006
A great
deal of my life as a sculptor has surrounded the study of the human
form: the results of this focus have been a journey that continues
to evolve into an array of inexhaustible possibilities. Constant
experimentation has led me through many processes, seemingly
countless types of mediums, and thought patterns, which persistently
employ the use of the human form.
Years of
observing the interaction between people and walls have led to the
focus of my recent and ongoing body of work.
Coexistence
between an inanimate form, a wall, and the human form has limitless
possibilities that result in a unique story being told by the artist
with each depiction. As the observer scans this artist’s
three-dimensional sketchbook the value of a wall to be incorporated
with the gesture of the human form to echo music, lean against, hide
behind, listen to, pray beside, walk on, or even walk through
demonstrates how even walls of exact same dimensions can become
unique when in the presence of a human form.
Being the
artist of point, I use the female figure as the human form to
interact with walls to best deliver the emotional content of the
piece to the casual observer. It is through the life experiences of
each casual observer that a unique relationship between the
sculpture and in individual can be created as the emotional content
is explored.
My endeavor
is to tell my unparallel story with each piece created
