Angus Macpherson
|
Angus Macpherson was born in 1952
in New Mexico, to a lawyer father who gave political speeches in Spanish
and a school teacher mother. Neither parent was an artist but traveled
with the children to museums across the United States and in Mexico as
well as in Western Europe. The Macphersons were also very interested in
the outdoors, and perhaps the seeds of future paintings were planted
while hiking, camping and sailing. Their town situated along the Rio
Grande valley running among the tall mountains and the people that have
inhabited the area for one thousand years all have influenced Angus
Macpherson's art.
Macpherson had his first art show
in 1976, was married to Melissa Bartlett Macpherson in 1977, and began
painting full time in 1983. Angus and Melissa and their two daughters
lived In Antwerp, Belgium in 1995-96.
Macpherson continues to paint
in a studio built on the top of their adobe home in Albuquerque.
