Steve Parker
AMERICAN ART COLLECTOR 12/06

A strong advocate and practitioner of plein aire painting he
completes small oil sketches outdoors. He uses these as raw
material to create larger pieces in his Houston studio. Part
memory, part observation, part intuitive response to deeply felt
experiences, his landscapes evoke in the viewer the feeling of
having remembered something long forgotten, a place once visited.
There is a feeling of recognition, of the familiar and yet the
elusive.
Parker describes his works as "perceptual realism." He sees
through and beyond the face of nature to an eternal reality and he
records what he sees.
